Indianapolis Earns #1 Rank!!!!

The National Complete Streets Coalition recently named Indianapolis’ Complete Streets policy best in the country. According to Smart Growth America, in 2012 nearly 130 communities adopted Complete Streets policies, including Indianapolis, and 488 Complete Streets policies are now in place nationwide. The Best Complete Streets Policies of 2012 is available at: http://www.smartgrowthamerica.org/documents/cs-2012-policy-analysis.pdf and includes the list of the 10 best policies in the country:
1. Indianapolis, IN
2. Hermosa Beach, CA
3. Huntington Park, CA
4. Ocean Shores, WA
5. Northfield, MN
6. Portland, ME
7. Oak Park, IL
8. Trenton, NJ
9. Clayton, MO
10. Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Indianapolis’ Complete Streets ordinance, adopted by the Indianapolis Marion County City-County Council and signed by Mayor Ballard in August 2012, requires all roadways, new construction and reconstruction, to be designed, built and maintained with all users in mind.
